Most people probably wouldn't look to a truck if they wanted a vehicle with a fuel-efficient engine. That's not to say however, that trucks haven't been making strides to reduce their gas guzzling tendencies.
The 2018 Ford F-150 will have engine options, for instance, that offer significant improvements over the fuel efficiency of the 2017 model. The naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V6, for instance, will hit 19/25/22 MPG. That's a full one MPG higher in all categories than the 3.5-liter engine it's replacing from the 2017 F-150.
Most impressive of all, the 2018 F-150's 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 will achieve fuel efficiency ratings of 20/26/22 MPG. That's, again, an improvement over the versions from previous years. These ratings, of course, decline some when you activate the F-150's full-wheel drive features. The usefulness of these higher gas mileage options however, cannot be overstated.
